Tinsel, Feathers, and Rocker-Chic Eyes... Oh My!

I had the pleasure of working with two beautiful ladies today... who happened to be mother and daughter! Check out the shimmery gold tinsel I put in Abby's hair today (that gold looks great with her stunning red hair!). I am totally jealous of Abby's hair... it is gorgeous.

I also got to put natural black and white feathers in her mom Tricia's hair and give her a sexy, rocker-chic make-up look for the Poison and Motley Crue concert at DTE tonight. Have a great day ladies and thank you!

Garden Nails

Normally I am not a fan of nail decals, but I saw these and thought they were cute and decided to try them out. I think using the decals as a divider and using a polish color that matches the decals makes them look more subdued and elegant.  I also trimmed my nails down because long nails with decals and a bright color was a little too much for me. I also kept the secondary color just a soft shimmer.

Cheap & Easy At-Home Facial

I have been plagued with dry skin for as long as I can remember... I recently went and had an organic facial, which was awesome. What I figured out, however, is that I could get these same results at home with natural, cheap products. Keep in mind these are for dry skin... I don't really know very much about treating other skin types.

Sea Salt Mask: Combine about a tablespoon of sea salt with a few drops of water and pat it on your face. Leave on for approximately three minutes and then rinse off. This is essentially a chemical exfoliant (the sea salt eats away the dry skin). I use this on my arms an legs as well. It is also good for removing in-grown hairs.

Moisturizing Mask: Combine oatmeal and honey to create a paste. Put this on your face for about five minutes and then rinse off. Again, this can really be used anywhere on your body and leaves your skin really silky.

All-Natural Moisturizer: I have been searching for a perfect moisturizer FOREVER. Who knew it was right in my kitchen cabinent! I put a few drops of extra virgin olive oil on my face, arms, and legs once a day. It has COMPLETELY changed my skin and makes it so soft. You would think it would make your face greasy but it doesn't.

Lemonade Exfoliant: Combine a few drops of lemon juice and a pinch of sugar on a piece of paper towel. Rub it on your skin for about three minutes then rinse. This is another chemical exfoliant that works REALLY well. It is also really good for pimples and acne.

More from the Water Series

Hello friends,

Here are some more photos from the Water Series that I recently did with Jennifer Alder. These are all very natural and effortless looking updos that I feel work well with the feel of the photos. I especially love how the feathers look in model Amy's hair.

Me-Ow... Cheetah Print Nails

After several different color combinations of zebra print nails, I decided to take on the challenge of cheetah print nails. These were significantly more difficult than the zebra print, but I am happy with how they turned out. Check them out below!

The Water Series

I again teamed up with genius photographer Jennifer Alder to work on hair for one of her workshops. This workshop was based on water photos so I went with hair that was intricate but natural... a lot of twists and braids. I am sure there will be more photos to come, but here are some teaser images.

The Mark of the Z.... Zebra Nails

I will be coaching Freshman Cheerleading this upcoming school-year, and since the school mascot is a zebra I am committing myself to all things zebra print. I found some amazing bandannas at Wal-Mart that I am going to buy and make hairbands for my girls, and I worked on these zebra nails. I decided to do a purple base instead of white for something fun. I am thinking there will be a lot of blue and yellow zebra print coming up this fall!

So if for no other reason than cute hair and clothes... I love weddings! I have always preferred using real flowers to fake and this peony was just perfect. Check out my styling :)

Wearing My Own Designs

I think every hair and make-up artist begins by working on themselves... this was definitely true of me! I love playing with my own hair and trying out new things for both hair and make-up. These are some photos of designs I have worn for different events including weddings, photoshoots, birthday parties, or just shopping with my man :)

Autumn Love

Another opportunity where I was able to put my styling to work for an amazing photographer. You will notice these styles are much less artsy and more in the every-day hair range. Enjoy!

Whimsical Hair Styling

Hello Blog-land!

Special education teacher by day... and stylist by weekend? Hoping to share my artistic endeavors with all of you here. I am going to start taking on clients for hairstyling as well as feather extensions. Please contact me here or via facebook if you are interested!

One of my first adventures in to serious hair-styling was working as a hair stylist for my good friend, and talented photographer, Jennifer Alder. Below are some images from her Whimsy Workshop. All hair is by me and I also created the hair pieces worn (the floral hair piece and different wire hair pieces)
